Explosive Childhood

Irene Ulfan mural

Irene Ulfan

New York, NY

In this mural I tried to create a tension between the background and the children.  The children depicted in silhouette, are arranged harmoniously with the backdrop, yet they are in conflict with the instability it creates.  I chose to paint an unspecified location that is stricken by the violence that comes along with war.  I hope the viewer can observe that with this painting I am not taking a political stance but a humanitarian one.
